The Recycling Centre is situated in Port Ranald Drive opposite Morrisons and is accessed from the roundabout. The old site has outgrown its use and simply did not have the recycling capcity to serve the residents of Troon and surrounding towns and villages in future years. A one-way traffic flow system that was designed, engineered and constructed by the Council is operating within the site to ensure that large service vehicles are separated from members of the public. The Port Ranald Drive development features modern traversing compactors and containers that can provide the maximum storage capacity and payload for efficient transportation of the waste to recycling processors. |

COMPOSTING FACILITY oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo A bay in the site holds 16 tonnes of compost that has been made from the contents collected from brown wheeled bins in South Ayrshire. All garden waste collected in the bins is taken to a centralised composting plant at Ardeer, where it is chipped and shredded before being processed into finished compost. Members of the public can purchase compost after buying an environmentally friendly reusable 70 litre Hessian sack for £2. The sack is available at Morrisons Petrol Station where, for safety purposes to avoid the staff at the Recycling Centre from handling cash, you can also buy the £2 vouchers which you will then take to the site, fill your sack, and take it home. |
|
The site has a full range of recycling banks and containers for paper, cardboard, cans, glass, wood, rubble, metals, garden waste, batteries, oil, textiles, shoes, gas cylinders, fridges and white goods. Anyone who would like further information about waste management in South Ayrshire should log on to the Council's website at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk or contact staff on the Recycling Helpline on ooooooooo 0845 601 20 20 |
