TROON COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Troon Community Council is a voluntary body. It is not a part of local government and therefore is non political. It is there to listen to and express the views of the residents of Troon.

The Community Council usually meets on the first Tuesday of each month in Troon Council Chambers, commencing at 7.00pm. An open forum is held between 7.00 to 7.30pm to enable members of the public to bring matters of interest or concern within the community to the attention of the Community Council.

Representing Troon North Ward are Liz Fisher, John Nelson, Dennis Cram. oooooooooo Representing Troon South Ward are Ann McAllister, Erica Williamson, Christine Plews, and Malcolm McKinlay. 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Representing Troon East Ward are Tracy Cameron, Phillip Saxton and Janet Walker. Representing Troon West Ward are Allison Barge, Helen Duff, Douglas Graham and Ann Cameron.

All of these Community Councillors will serve until 31st March 2007.

The following Office Bearers were elected for the ensuing year :

Secretary : Ann McAllister Treasurer : Allison Barge

Elections are held triennially, with any by-elections being held in years two and three. ooo South Ayrshire Council has appointed Jim Forsyth as link officer. His role will be as a point of contact between the Community Council and themselves. South Ayrshire Council also has a statutory obligation to consult with the Community Council regarding planning applications. Please note that after approval, minutes of each Community Council meeting are available for inspection in Troon Library. oCurrently there are vacancies for the North and South wards. I would encourage you to become a member of the Community Council and represent your ward. Please do not hesitate to contact any member as listed above.

TROON COMMUNITY COUNCIL A.G.M.
The A.G.M. of the Community Council was held on the 3rd April, Malcolm McKinlay stepped down as Chairman and Philip Saxton was elected to the Chair. Anne McAlister was elected Secretary and Elizabeth Fisher is now Minute Secretary. Malcolm McKinlay was elected Vice-Chairman. All other sub committee members will stay in place for a further year. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Malcolm thanked all community councillors for their support during his year as Chairman. I will update this article as Community Council Business becomes available.oooooooooooo Two of the main priorities from the whole of the Community Council this year are activity areas for children, ie all weather pitch/skate board area etc. Any ideas would be greatfully received and the Community Council have an ongoing saga with the right of way at Royal Troon. Douglas Graham, Troon Community Councillor, has spent numerous hours fighting to retain the right of way and I will you up to date with developments.

TROON CIVIC AWARD 2005 oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Troon Community Council makes an award annually, for meritorious services to the community of Troon in any field of endeavour or activity.o

Replying to the champagne toast, Margaret thanked Troon Community Council for the honour and accepted it on behalf of the members of Troon Blind Club.

oMargaret is citizen of the year.

oHard working Margaret Dunbar is our Citizen of the Year oaward winner.

oMargaret has been treasurer of the town's Blind Club for omore than 10 years and during this time has helped raise ohundreds of pounds for the club by making her own jam, ochutneys and hand crafted items.

oThe award was presented at the Blind Club's meeting by oCommunity Councillor, Malcolm McKinlay. Margaret was oalso presented with a beautifully iced cake.
